Tonight, Steve and I went to see a "Mystery Movie" - it's a screening of a movie not yet out but they don't tell you what it is. If you're not happy with what it turns out to be, you can leave within 20 minutes and get a refund.
Steve thought for sure it was going to be Angels and Demons so he suggested going because he knows I really like Dan Brown books. So he was really pleased when it turned out to be Star Trek. But it does mean we now have no plans for Friday because we planned to see it then, lol.
It was a really good movie with some really good comic relief moments and classic Star Trek jokes. The Romulans looked different though, they're obviously trying to make them look more evil and scary.
Definitely go see it!
Dad and I (as well as the rest of the group)want to go see this . I am hoping that we can all go tomorrow night and see it before we hear something that might give away too much info.
ReplyDeleteWell, the US side of the family (Mom/Dad, Ange/I, The Wagners, Bob/Jac) finally managed to organize our trip to see Star Trek. I think we all really enjoyed it. I'm the opposite of a Heroes fan, so I was a bit concerned that Spock was going to be ruined. Happily, I thought Quinto did a superb job with it. I was also pleased to see Sarek played well, though not by Mark Lenard.
ReplyDeleteOverall I think it's a fascinating decision to essentially "wipe out" the entire Star Trek history that we know. Obviously the most impacted is TOS, but as a side-effect every series which follows TOS has now had its history changed. This completely clears the way for just about anything to happen. We can enjoy the same characters (or have new ones introduced) throughout the same 'universe' with differing events and adventures. None of which can 'violate' the history all of us nerds know by heart. I suppose the only set of Star Trek adventures unaffected (except for the loss of his Beagle) is 'Enterprise'. But that show was never 'fully' developed in my mind anyway, so there's room there even for additional growth. Fascinating.
